Accessibility Statement

The standard we build to

We aim to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at Level AA. It’s the standard most often used to judge whether a website is accessible, including under the Americans with Disabilities Act.

What we’ve done

• Text and background colors meet AA contrast, checked on the finished pages, including each practitioner’s own colors.
• Every page works with a keyboard alone, with a visible focus outline and a “Skip to content” link first on every page.
• Each page has one main heading, headings in order, and labeled regions, so screen readers can move around quickly.
• Photos are described in words for people who can’t see them. A portrait that sits right beside its person’s name is left to the name, so it isn’t read twice.
• Form fields are labeled. An error is read aloud, points to the field to fix, and never clears what you typed.
• Zoom is never blocked, and the site follows your device’s reduced-motion setting. Nothing is hidden until you scroll to it.
• Pages are checked with automated accessibility testing as they’re built and changed.

Known limitations

We’d rather list these than claim the site is perfect.

• The map on the building page comes from Google Maps, and we don’t control how accessible it is. The building’s address and a directions link are always right beside it.
• Some pages link to practitioners' own websites and other sites we don’t run.
• We haven’t yet finished a full screen reader review of every page.
